Vitamin B3, vitamin B6, vitamin C and vitamin E all maximize the fatty acids' ability to perform the above functions as do the minerals magnesium, selenium and zinc.

At least 3% and no more then 20% of daily calories should come from this vitamin. Foods rich in the omega-3 category of F-vitamin include fish, walnut oil and canola oil. While dietary sources of the omega-6 category of F-vitamin include red meat, full-fat dairy products, seeds and seed oils. A fatty acids vitamin deficiency may be indicated by eczema and hair loss. A deficiency of this vitamin can cause damage to the tear ducts, heart, kidneys and liver.

Fatty acid vitamin supplements or a multi-vitamin containing them may be helpful even to those with a generally well-balanced diet. These vitamin supplements and multi-vitamins come in both capsule and oil form. Olay Vitamins and Vitamin Shoppe are two of the brands with lines including F-vitamin products. Among others, individuals on a low fat diet may want to consider a fatty acid vitamin supplement, but only on the advice of their doctor.
